Christopher was one of the people trapped in the mysterious Town during Victor's childhood. Originally an outgoing and gregarious man, something about him changed due to the influence of the Town, the results of which still haunt Victor to this day.
Biography[]
Background[]
Christopher was one of the inhabitants of the Town during Victor's childhood. He was known for making people laugh with his ventriloquist doll, Jasper, which was not an easy thing to do at the time. However, at some point he became obsessed with a certain Symbol and drastically changed. He became less cheerful and stopped making people laugh, becoming isolated and withdrawn.[1]
One day, Victor found Christopher arguing with the Boy in White in the Church basement. The Boy saying that the "answers to the end are in the beginning," starting with the children. The children had been murdered by people they trusted. The children had been told a story of hope as they lay on the stones, the roots became the Farway Trees. The Boy told Christopher that to save the children, he would have to go through the Bottle Tree, but Christopher got angry and refused to listen. Victor told his mother what he overheard.[2] Miranda then had him to hide somewhere that Christopher didn't know about during the night. The next day, Victor woke up to find everyone dead.[3]
Season 2[]
Jade discovers a photo of Christopher, and notices in the background of the photo is a young Victor. Later, after being woken by the shrieks of the Creatures, he hallucinates Christopher standing in front of him holding sketches of the symbol, which proceed to begin dripping blood. The next morning, Victor offers to tell Jade about the photo in exchange for a favor. After Jade plays "Twinkle Little Star" on the violin for Victor, Victor explains that the once friendly Christopher changed after seeing the symbol. Victor reluctantly tells Jade how his mother told him to hide in a place Christopher didn't know about, and the next morning everyone was dead.[3]
Season 3[]
After digging up the suitcase with the belongings of the deceased inhabitants from his childhood, Victor realizes that he never buried anything for Christopher, as Jasper went missing after his death. Victor explains to Sara that Christopher used to make everyone to laugh with Jasper. After Christopher changed, he stopped making people laugh. Victor remembers that Christopher started spending more time alone, and he once found Christopher talking to Jasper, with Jasper talking back. Victor then realizes that Jasper can tell them what happened.[1]
After retrieving Jasper from the Tunnels, Victor tries to make the puppet speak and repeat the story it told Christopher. After Tabitha and Sara help him retrace his steps to the Church, Victor realizes that he misremembered, and that Christopher was actually speaking with the Boy in White.[2]
While hanging bottles on a tree outside the Bar, Jade Herrera has a vision of Christopher and Jasper sitting on the roof of the back porch. Jade tells them that he is no longer frightened by the visions, but Jasper shrieks, startling Jade and almost knocking him off the ladder before disappearing.[4]
Trivia[]
- Christopher was in one of the two cars that arrived in the city at the same time many years ago. The color of Christopher's car matches Victor's drawing, which depicts the accident of two cars.
