Eloise Kavanaugh was the sister of Victor and daughter of Miranda. Like her mother and brother, she became trapped in the Township, where she and her mother were eventually killed by the Creatures, and the trauma of losing Eloise caused Victor to repress his memories of her.

Biography[]

Background[]

Eloise, her brother Victor and mother Miranda all got trapped in the Township in the late 1978. Eventually, Miranda hid her children in the Root Cellar, telling them to stay there while she went to the Lighthouse in the hopes of finding a way out. However, a frightened Eloise ran after her mother, leaving Victor alone. The next morning, Victor found that everyone had been killed, including his mother and possibly his sister. The trauma of losing Eloise and the guilt of not going after or stopping her made Victor repress his memories of her.[1]

Season 2[]

Victor is unable to fully remember what happened to his mother and what she was looking for to escape the Township. In order to help Tabitha Matthews get answers, he takes her to the Car Graveyard to look at the drawings he keeps in the trunk of his mother's car. He finds a drawing of him and a girl named Eloise, and remembers Eloise, begging their mother not to leave them. Victor tearfully realizes that the pictures are not his, but his sister's. He then remembers how Eloise was supposed to hide with him, but ran after their mother, and Victor stayed behind, afraid to leave. Victor sobs as he remembers his sister, who he had blocked all memory of.[1]

Season 3[]

While comforting Victor, who is blaming himself for his mother's death, Tabitha experiences flashes of Miranda's memories from the night she died, including hugging her children goodbye in the Root Cellar.[2]

Later, when Victor shows his dad the place where he has buried his mother, the father asks about Eloise. Victor says that she might be in the grave lying next to her mother's, but he is not entirely sure as the remains he buried were too little to be sure it was actually her.[3]

Trivia[]

  • Many fans theorize that Eloise might have survived the massacre that killed everyone except her brother, as there was no explicit mention of her body being found. However, Victor mentions that she was killed in the massacre in There and Back Again. Victor also said that he might have buried her next to his mother but he mentions that there were so few identifiable remains, leaving a slim possibility that she may have survived.
