Plot[]

Jim responds to the voice on the phone, telling it that he is not his son. The voice asks him why he let Tabitha go and wanted her to die, asking if it was because he no longer loved her. Jim angrily asks what the voice wants, and the voice says he wants to help him because he needs it. The voice tells him to watch over Julie and Ethan, and that they should not be outside so close to dark. The voice then hangs up. Jim races outside to find his children as Boyd rings the bell warning everyone to get back inside before dark. Jim finds them at the Barn feeding the animals and orders them back inside. Boyd notices and asks Jim if he is alright. Jim grimly notes that things are getting worse before leaving.

In Camden, Tabitha emerges from the basement after spending all night looking at the paintings. She explains again how she was pushed out of the Lighthouse and accidentally reveals that Miranda was killed. Henry admits he had accepted long ago that she was dead. Hearing clinking, Henry confirms the sound is real and made by bottles tied to a tree in the backyard.

Outside Colony House, Victor uses a map to locate a specific tree, under which he begins digging. In the Sheriff’s Office, Boyd explains that he plans on using the Talismans to trap a Creature. Ellis is wary, but Boyd thinks that they need to stop playing it safe. Ellis reminds him that he spent one night in the Forest and it almost got him and everyone else killed. Boyd argues that Jim and Kenny found food, and that they need to take chances, regardless of how it may work out. Donna arrives, and informs them that they drew straws and Dale was chosen before asking what is going on. Ellis threatens to tell Donna if Boyd does not, and Boyd admits that he plans on capturing a Creature to learn about them. Donna finds the plan ridiculous, reminding him that they merely smile after receiving a point-blank shotgun blast. Donna sympathizes, admitting she too desires revenge for Tian-Chen, but she does not want Boyd to get killed because of a poorly thought-out plan and orders Ellis not to encourage him, reminding him that he has more to worry about than himself with a baby on the way.

Fatima arrives in the kitchen and finds Clara cooking a steak. She explains that they divided up the meat from the cow killed by the Creatures. Fatima declines her offer of food, and begins to grow nauseated. She goes outside and finds a pile of the rotted crops and begins eating them. When she notices Tillie watching her, she runs off.

In the forest, Kenny leads Jade, Kristi, Dale, Roger and several others to the Log Cabins. Dale is creeped out by the Totems, and Kristi is amazed that anyone lived here. Jade points out the way the Totems are positioned, and theorizes that they may have been used similarly to the Talismans.

Jim serves Ethan lunch, and tries to encourage him by telling him that Kenny will soon return with more food as Julie arrives. Ethan asks who will bury Tabitha, and Jim sternly tells him not to speak like that. As he continues to ask about what would happen to her body, Jim grows angry and snaps at him. Ethan leaves the table, followed by Julie. The phone rings again, but Jim simply hangs up.

In his backyard, Henry shows her the Bottle Tree, explaining that Miranda was an artist with many installations around town. Tabitha explains that the tree in the Township has an opening that can teleport people. Henry reveals that this tree is a copy, and the original installation is a few towns over. He then remembers that that tree is where they took acid together, where she first received visions of the Township. Tabitha demands he take her, but he insists she rest.

As Boyd makes a wooden board, the vision of Father Khatri praises him for keeping many of them alive, but asks why he is risking that now. Khatri then asks if he has an actual plan. As Boyd tries ignoring him, Khatri says he is not realizing that the Creatures are trying to change him and are succeeding, as the old Boyd would never do something this stupid. Khatri tells him that he and Tian-Chen died trying to help people, and Boyd is diminishing their sacrifice by making it all about him. He then insults Boyd’s woodworking and Boyd reveals that is a memory board, to mark down where everyone is buried, including Father Khatri.

In her house, Sara tries fixing Nathan’s old ceramic ornament that Kenny smashed. She is interrupted by a knock at the door and finds Victor holding a suitcase. Victor asks to build a blanket fort so he can tell a story.

Tillie approaches Fatima upstairs, and reveals that she too had strange cravings during her first pregnancy. Tillie tries to reassure her that whatever is happening will pass. Fatima begins crying as Tillie tries comforting her. Fatima is afraid of talking to anyone or worrying Ellis. Fatima admits she is terrified that something is wrong with the baby. Tillie says that every first time mother goes through this, but Fatima says she was not even able to conceive and now she just wants to know if the baby is alright. Tillie says they should find out.

As they get in the car, Joni Mitchell’s “Blue” begins playing. Henry explains that the song was Miranda’s favorite, and the car plays it because the tape is stuck. A shocked Tabitha says it is also her and her husband’s song.

At the Log Cabins, Dale complains that the lots they drew for who would forage were rigged by Donna. Noticing Jade, drawing in his journal, Dale scolds him for not helping, and complains about him with the other Colony House residents. Dale reminds him that they are all struggling in the Township and that he should not look down on them just because he was a big shot in the outside world. Jade yells at Dale that he has no idea what he has gone through or seen, and walks off in anger. As Jade walks, he sees a man in old fashioned clothing with a large iron spike driven through his eye into the tree behind him. The man then grabs Jade. As Dale arrives, he asks Jade what is wrong, not seeing the vision.

Kenny picks blueberries off a bush as Kristi arrives. She tries to check on him, but he simply asks if she has filled up her bags with crops. Kenny tells her they have two hours left and need to bring back as much as possible. A frightened Jade tries to return to Town, refusing to stay there but they tell him that he will not make it back to Town or the Talisman Hut. Jade runs off, followed by Kristi, who tells him that he is going the wrong way. However, Kristi’s leg gets caught in a bear trap.

In the Diner, Ethan washes dishes with Bakta. When Boyd arrives, Ethan explains that they are doing so because Tian-Chen would want the Diner to be put together. Bakta tells Boyd that she feels bad for Ethan. Boyd asks how she is doing, and she says that she is still processing everything, and does not really know before asking Boyd how he is. Boyd admits that it’s been a rough stretch, but they will win and go home. Ethan asks if there is a way home, and says Boyd simply hopes there is one, reminding him of Tian-Chen and his mother. Boyd says they are not giving up on Tabitha, but Ethan says that maybe they should.

In the forest, Kenny and Dale struggle to free Kristi’s leg from the trap. Jade tries to help, but Kenny begins arguing with him but Kristi tells them to stop. Jade goes in search of something to provide leverage, and orders Dale to come with him.

In Colony House, Tillie searches with Fatima, passes a sleeping Elgin and finds a deck of tarot cards. Fatima dismisses her, and admonishes Tillie for continuing her “batty, kooky schtick” after she confided in her. Tillie is insulted, and says that she may not believe, but reminds her that she likely did not believe in anything she’s seen in the Township since her arrival. Fatima agrees to a reading, and Tillie explains that the cards were given to her by Gertie, who was in the same hospice care as Tillie’s husband. Gertie did a reading for Tillie after her husband’s death, and while she dismissed it at the time, the cards foretold her cancer and arrival in the Township. After Fatima shuffles, Tillie lays out several cards and tells her to ask a question. Fatima asks if her baby is okay as a crow slams into the window. As Tillie turns over the first card, the crow slams through the window, sending people into a panic as it flaps about before slamming into the wall near Elgin, waking him up.

At the Log Cabins, Jade takes apart a Totem to use its parts for leverage, despite Dale’s concerns. Meanwhile, Kristi tries to give Kenny instructions if things go bad. Kenny refuses to listen, but Kristi tells him Boyd told her his mother’s last words, and tells him that no matter what happens he will never be alone. Kenny insists she’ll be fine, but at Kristi’s insistence, admits he heard her. Jade and Dale arrive, and use the metal poles to pry open the trap, freeing Kristi. As she has them reset her dislocated ankle, Jade sees the same vision he saw before, now drinking blood from a skull.

In the bus, Randall has a vision of being swarmed by cicadas. Boyd arrives and asks if he is alright before thanking him for helping the night the animals got loose. Boyd offers to have Randall stay in the Sheriff’s Office so he can stay overnight in the bus and watch the Creatures. When Randall asks why, Boyd says it is time to change things up.

As they drive, Tabitha finds a bracelet in Henry’s glove compartment and asks where he got that, as it is similar to the one she made Jim. After Henry answers that Miranda made it for him, Tabitha starts to believe that she is not really in Camden and is still stuck in the Township. As Tabitha continues to spiral and tries to leave, Henry tells her that she does not get to arrive and say that his son is alive and then leave. As she tries to get out of the car, Henry holds the door shut and begins driving, but they are hit by an oncoming vehicle. Tabitha wakes up in an ambulance, where she is told that Henry is having trouble but is largely stable. Acosta, the police officer, tells her that they have been looking for her since she ran out of the hospital. As Tabitha tries to convince them to let her go, the ambulance stops, as their path is blocked by a Fallen Tree.
